If you read some of my previous stories, you might guess that I find it hard to stick with a specific routine. But on the other hand: don’t we all?

I recently revised my morning routine. My main goal was: to feel energized all day long. I’ve already experienced with some of the individual parts of this routine, but my current system feels great and it offers me real energy — all day long. That is: from 5am to easily 6pm, or even later on great days.

Sleep for at least 7 hours

I’ve set myself the goal of waking up at 5am. This way, I have enough time in the morning to execute my routine, have some me time while also having some quality time with my girlfriend and our pets.

This also means: going to sleep at 10pm, which is sometimes frustrating, especially when you want to see the end of some Netflix episode or show. But at the same time: I do feel really tired by then.

2–3 minutes Cold shower

After waking up, I immediately go to the shower. If I’m feeling brave, I go in cold and set my timer for 3 minutes. Even when I really don’t want to have the cold shower, I tell myself: do the bare minimum. 10, 20 seconds. In most cases, this triggers me enough to go at least 2 minutes.
