My morning routine

Wake up at 06:00

As I focus on getting seven to eight hours of sleep every day, waking up at six in the morning is perfect. Sleep has gotten more of my attention during the last year. People like coach Fabrice have inspired me to read more on the subject, and it appears sleep deprivation during middle age is related to Alzheimer’s disease.

But on the short term, a human body and mind need rest to recover from exercise, from food, from thoughts etc. On top of that, I learned that if you want to lose weight, you need even more rest. Or, conversely: a lack of sleep causes you to eat more.

Water

One of the tips I remember from reading Tim Ferris’ “The 4-hour body” is to drink ice-cold-water, first thing in the morning. I drink 0.5l (two big glasses). I’m not sure if it helps my weight loss (Tim argues it does), but it sure helps me reach my water goal every day. I try to drink 2.5–3l a day, which should be enough.

However, the amount of water we really need is subject to a lot of scientific studies. Just make sure to hydrate and my research tells me that if you drink at least 2 liters of water a day, it should suffice.
